At Metro Rod North Midlands & Worcester, doing our best to be kind to our planet has always and will always be a top priority. We know that by changing the small things we do, together we can make a big difference, however today, we are introducing a big change that we couldn’t be more excited about.
Our first zero emissions vehicle has arrived!
This incredible car allows our team to do our day-to-day tasks such as attend meetings, go to site visits and for engineers to drive out and perform audits without adding more pollution to the environment. We are always hoping to consistently upgrade our equipment and services to do our best ecologically, so we couldn’t be happier to add this vehicle to our resources.
At the 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 26) that took place at the start of November many problems that are affecting our planet were addressed, and within the messaging a push for less fossil fuels to be used meant a new declaration for zero emissions cars and vans was released.
“The COP26 declaration on accelerating the transition to 100% zero emission cars and vans is signed by national governments, states, regions, cities, vehicle manufacturers, businesses, investors and civil society all committed to working towards 100% zero emission vehicle sales by 2035 at the latest in leading markets, and by 2040 globally.”
Not only are we starting to move away from fossil fuel vehicles as a company, but we also make it a key effort to recycle and manage waste disposal within every service we perform. All of our engineers are trained regularly and are kept up to date with any changes that are able to be made to their day-to-day jobs in order to follow the most ecological practices.
Whilst we look after our own impact on the environment as much as possible, we also like to advise our clients on ways they can help through their own small actions. An important piece of advice we can offer is what items should be flushed down your toilet versus what should be thrown away in a bin or recycling; wet wipes, cotton buds and sanitary items should be disposed of properly and not flushed into your drainage system as although these can cause costly emergencies, the effect they have outside your home is much greater, as many of these items due to their plastic-based materials can take up to 100 years to break down and are a big contributor to issues in the environment. We also advise saving water where you can and choosing products that are eco-friendly.
At Metro Rod North Midlands & Worcester, we promise to always do our best by our planet and consistently update our practices to help as much as we can. It is an incredibly exciting moment for us to have been able to upgrade to a no emissions vehicle for our team to use.
Working together and making those changes, whether they are as simple as switching to bio-degradable wipes or taking a big step and changing vehicles will all make a difference in keeping our planet healthy for the future.
