METRO ROD GLASGOW’S GUIDE TO DRAIN REPAIRS

Do you know what causes damaged and broken drains and pipes? Do you know what to look for in case you need a drain repair? If the answer is no, then keep reading as we will explain all.

Cracked Pipe

Metro Rod Glasgow are experts when it comes to drain repairs, so you don’t need to worry if you find yourself with ruptured, leaking pipes. A damaged drain can worsen over time so it’s a good idea to have it checked out and fixed straight away. There are a few tell-tale signs that may indicate you need a drain repair, so here is what to look out for:

  • Unpleasant, lingering odours are often the first sign something is wrong - could indicate that a waste pipe is burst or leaking.
  • Increase in your water bills, but no increase in water usage - you can test this by checking your water meter and taking a reading, not using any water for a couple of hours and then re-checking the meter to see if there has been a change.
  • Low water pressure might mean that there is a leak or blockage in your pipes, whatever is the problem, Metro Rod Glasgow will be able to help.
  • Pooling water around the sink, bath, dishwasher etc will also indicate a leak.

When it comes to drain repairs there is often the misconception that it will be expensive, and require digging down to reach the problem, which can cause a lot of disruption to your property. With Metro Rod Glasgow no-dig and trenchless repairs we can fix your drains with minimal disruption. Instead of digging down we use various lining techniques to fix the problem. Using localised structural drain repairs, such as Patch Liners and Ambient Cured lining, Metro Rod carries out the work in a cost-effective way that will truly fix your problem.

So, what actually causes you to need a drain repair?

  • Root related damage - roots have a tendency to grow into the tiny cracks in pipes, where they then feed on the nutrients flowing through, making them grow which enlarges the cracks making them a problem.
  • Freezing and thawing - when the water in your pipes freezes during the cold months it will expand causing the pipe to rupture, the problem then becomes noticeable when the water begins to thaw and then leak, or in extreme cases flood out of the ruptured pipe.
  • Sun damage - over the years the UV rays from the sun cause our plastic pipes to become brittle making them more likely to crack.
