Here at Metro Rod Deeside, we have a more expansive fleet than the Starfleet itself! (Well maybe not quite that extensive but you get the idea!)
Much like the Starfleet, we have multiple vehicles which service different purposes, from the small to the tall, slim to the wide. We're here to introduce you to the types of vehicles we have here at our North Wales depot. These vehicles are out and about every day assisting your homes and businesses' drainage issues!
Van Packs - Green Jetter Machines!
These are the most common member of our fleet - we have 9 of these based out of depot in Deeside. You'll more than likely see these out on the road, at sites, anywhere really! They're not that hard to miss, just watch for our signature colour green and give our boys a wave!
These types of vans are known in the industry as "Van Packs" to us. They come equipped with a High Pressure Water Jetter Pack at the rear. Due to this we sometimes call them simply "Jetting Vans" too. But that's not all that's inside these drainage powerhouses, they're packed to the brim with all the equipment our engineers should need;
- Electro-Mechanical Cleaners
- Rods
- Manhole Keys
- Disinfectant
- Ladders
- Seals
- Pipe
And so much more!
All this equipment means that we have everything we could ever need to help get ride of your drainage issues. We have multiple types of Jetter in our vans. We source these machines from companies such as JetChem and Andy Guest Jetters. Each of these can reach roughly around 12 gallons of water per minute at incredibly high pressures to clear those blockages!
So when you call us with a toilet that's backing up, or a manhole that's overflowing in your garden, you can be assured that when our "Van Packs" turn up, the engineer will have the means and resources to help fix it! Armed with a Jetter and any other necessary equipment, we're sure to get you flowing freely again!
Excavations Truck - for dirty drain repairs!
Known affectionate to us in the office as "Tipper", our drop side pick up truck is the perfect vehicle for carrying out excavations works. Excavations involve digging down upon a drain in order to replace broken sections of pipework or install new connections.
The flat bed style of this truck allows us to fill the rear with any materials we may need for jobs such as these. Materials such as new sand and cement to fill in the sections we have had to dig. Even long lengths of pipework. It also allows us to take away the old broken concrete/soil/tarmac to be dispose of at a designated disposal site later on.
When excavation is the only method of drain repair/replacement, our engineers will work to minimise disruption to a minimum.
Lining Van - your No-Dig men!
If you're familiar with our services you'll know that we offer what we call 'No-Dig Technology Repairs'. These types of repairs are an industry revolution, we are able to repair underground drains without the need to dig.
These kind of repairs are more often than not using a 'liner'. I'll refer to our technical specifications to explain this one;
"No-Dig Repair options vary depending on the application, but they all involve inserting a liner into a drain which is impregnated with resin. The liner is moved into position, whether it is local or full length, and then inflated to give a water tight repair by effectively making a thin strong layer inside the existing drain. When the required cure time has elapsed, the means of inflating the repair is removed to restore the full drain function and integrity.
Localised Structural Repairs (LSRs)
- Patch Liners – This localised repair offers a cost-effective solution to fix individual defects within a drain or sewer.
- Ambient Cured Lining – Ambient cured lining consists of the full or partial lining of sewers or drains to cover multiple defects.
- Heat Cured Lining – This is like Ambient cured lining; however, Heat Cured Lining is predominantly used for larger diameter pipes or where an increased resistance to chemical attack is required." [1]
Our Lining Van is used for just this! When we come across drainage pipework which is in need of an LSR, this van is first on the scene! They're armed with all the equipment that our Van Packs have. But, there's also a few little extras such as the Liners themselves and the appropriate resins.
But we have much more than this in our fleet! Check back next week to see the rest of the fleet that make up the most reliable, professional and efficient drainage company in North Wales!
