RING DOWN THE GRID? Guess what he did? || Metro Rod Liverpool Drains
Metro Rod in Liverpool are always keen to educate our customers and followers about best practice when it comes to their drains and fixing any drainage problems. You may have recently read the story in the Daily Mail of the man in London who was messing with his ring at a café? He managed to drop it down the grid and after calling the council who couldn’t immediately attend he instead called the fire brigade who lifted the grid/gully up for him and he retrieved it himself, as well as a quantity of sludgey mess? He was extremely fortunate, he got his ring back (almost a miracle in itself!) but he wasn’t hurt or injured by the debris that was contained in the grid.
When Metro Rod’s expert engineers have to venture into a grid they use their PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) that they have each been issued with. We also use gully grabs, to literally ‘grab’ debris out of the grids, and for good reason!
WHY?
A picture tells a thousand words..
Also, back in October 2018 Merseyside Police ran a campaign to retrieve weapons and also used a gully sucker to empty street grids in one area of Liverpool and the items that they found are shocking, read about it on the Liverpool Echo website here:
Putting it bluntly, you really can never tell what may be hidden and it’s better to be safe than sorry.
If you ever have any problems with drains Metro Rod are here to help! Our engineers are all fully trained in every aspect of their work, they are all issued with protective equipment, ensuring the safety of themselves, their team and the general public.
Let’s face it, when even Peppa Pig advocates trying to get items back out of drains it can be tempting (!) but honestly leaving situations like this to experts, such as Metro Rod Liverpool really is the best course of action!
