CCTV surveys are very helpful to learn what is lying beneath your home or business. The surveys in which we carry out are completed using a system called I-Touch, which are a new generation of reporting systems and enable us to send a password to your email for you to access your detailed report.
Why would you need a CCTV Survey?
Well there are many reasons why surveys are useful and here are some of them:
Extension and Conservatory - If you are wanting to extend on your home, you will be required to provide a survey of the drain and pipes below, to show the condition of the drains before and after the building work has taken place. This means that you will know if the drains have been cracked or dislodged from ground movement.
New Build - CCTV surveys are needed when a new build is being constructed, this is for the same reason as an extension. You would also need to have a survey completed before and after the building work.
Home Buyer - If you are looking at buying a new home, you may want to have a CCTV survey on the drains before you go ahead with the purchase. Doing this will mean that there will be no underlying issues with the drains that could result in you spending even more money... which I am sure you wouldn't want to do!
Vendor - If you are selling your house, it may be an idea for you to have a CCTV survey carried out on the drains beforehand. This will ensure that you are fully aware of the issues that your drains may be having and could save embarrassment at a later date, if the homebuyer wanted to have a survey on the drains and could then find out that there are issues. If there are issues, it could deter the potential buyer.
Peace of mind - Having this survey done will mean that you will see any damage that could lead to further issues and expense. This is because it will show you any cracks, tree roots entering the pipes, any blockages or areas that could become blocked in the near future.
The system that we would use for a pipe with the diameter up to 6 inches would consist of; a reel, camera and computer box, we would use a reel with the I-Touch camera attached. This is then fed down the pipe, we will be able to see the footage on one of our computers above ground which will allow us to guide the camera down the pipes.
For pipes of a larger diameter, we would use a Mainline Crawler Unit. This would have the same outcome but just operates slightly differently. The equipment would consist of a camera on a tractor which can be controlled from a joy stick operated by one of our skilled engineers and a computer box to see the footage from the camera.
