The weather was perfect yesterday for Metro Rod Oxford to hold our 20th Anniversary Open Day at Nicholls Plumbing Merchants in Bicester. A slight breeze kept us cool while we showed off one of our vans, our equipment and much of the team that works together to keep Oxfordshires drains unblocked and flowing freely!
We were delighted to show ourselves off to the attendees; many of whom were very interested in learning just how much we can do as a drainage company with over 20 years experience! Sue Caulfield directed had this to say about the day: "I thoroughly enjoyed our first open day; fantastic weather, perfect location... thank you all so much for your support. Here's to the next 20 years!"
Engineer Mark who has been with us since 2013 displayed his shiny green van as well as all the kit he carries inside, including the jetting units that live in our vans. He set up his barriers to show how we apply health and safety on real jobs and behind those we displayed our Pictote Maxi Miller, displaying some of the varied heads we can attached to the machine to break down even the most stubborn of blockages, and the smaller Mini Miller we have more recently invested in to tackle smaller pipe diameters.
Our operations supervisor Paul who joined us in 2007 manned the camera corner, where he showed off the SeeSnake, our smallest camera unit designed to manoeuvre a camera head through toilet bends, which means we can camera straight down those pipes without removing the toilet first; a massive step forward for minimising disruption to homes and businesses! From the smallest unit to the biggest, he also showed off our Proteus Crawler Camera unit, which is a rugged CCTV drain camera on 6 wheels designed to capture the insides of pipes up to 600mm and boasts a pan and tilt head, meaning we can get a closer look at defects than ever before. He captured a short demonstration with the camera, which we will be displaying on our social media shortly so watch this space!
Our senior engineer Tony who joined Metro Rod shortly after Paul, was on hand to advise on our lining and patching services. The attendees were able to get a good look at the process we use to line pipes and were able to ask questions.
Our Sales and Marketing team were also in attendance, Dean Caulfield-Harris and Charlotte Fowles, who were fielding questions from attendees, running the toilet golf and gifting attendees brochures and freebies!
As well as the guests who came, we were also pleased that Chris Nelson, the national Technical Manager of Metro Rod pop by to see us as well as our bank account manager, Claire Culkin, who has been part of our extended work family almost since the beginning! Another guest we were thrilled to catch up with was Terry Allen, director of TDS, who was the very first engineer we ever hired!
And finally, a massive thank you to Nicholls Plumbing Merchants for lending us the space to hold our open day!
