Whatever The Weather – Metro Rod Are Here To Sort Out Blocked Drains!

Boiling hot, freezing cold, torrential rain, strong winds, lightning...

It's fair to say that the past few weeks have been a complete mixed bag weather wise!

From the hottest day in the UK EVER to flooding problems in just 3 days, this summer's weather is proving to be variable, to say the least.  As regular Metro Rod followers will already be aware, each weather type brings about it's own issues that could highlight drain problems, so as you may expect, we have been rather busy the past few weeks!

So, how do different weather types affect your drains?

Rain

Rain Overflowing Gutter

Rain does not make you have blocked drains, but it can add to the problems that are already there!  Here at Metro Rod in Liverpool we have had an influx of calls recently about blocked gullies, external drains and overflowing gutters on commercial buildings.  These will already be blocked with silt, sand, soil, leaves and other debris.  Metro Rod have great engineers and the latest technology to ensure that these aren't problematic for long.  We have, for example, the Metro Vac which means that we can easily clear your gutters from ground level (much less health and safety risks from the ground!) and we have various methods of clearing any drains and ascertaining what may have been the cause of any blocked drains, be it debris, structural problems etc.

Wind

The wind can be the cause of drainage problems.  Stand outside on a windy day and what do you see blowing about?  Leaves and rubbish I am sure.  But, there will also be bite of debris, such as soil and sand that you cannot see.  These things combined enter into drainage systems, either via the gullies in the street or through settling in gutters and then add up to cause a drainage problem.  As outlined above, Metro Rod have various methods of fixing this, so get in touch with any problems!

Sun/Heat

Themometor

The sun doesn't cause drain problems, as such, but it sure can highlight them!  Just a small increase in temperatures can 'heat up' any drainage issues or blockages on a site and lead to awful smells - certainly not what you want when you have the family around for a barbeque!  Luckily, Metro Rod in Liverpool work genuinely 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and so as soon as you notice a bad smell, give us a call! Our engineers can be with you quickly to ensure that your garden smells of roses again, not sewage!

The only weather that we haven't had yet this summer is snow (although we had a bit of hail last week!) but I have no doubt it will be here soon!
